1966 Pontiac
Tempest for 1966 introduced a new base in-line overhead cam six. The 230 cid engine with a one barrel carburetor produced 165 horsepower at 4700 rpm. The four-barrel equipped model had output of 207 horsepower.
Body styles for the Tempest were restyled for 1966. They had smoother, rounder body lines and an elongated C pillar produced deep trailling edges to the rear window.
Available engines for the Tempest, depending on model, ranged from the standard overhead cam 6 cylinder up to the 325 cid 285 horsepower V8. GTO models had a standard 389 V8 rated at 335 hp as well as a triple carbureted model with output of 360 rpm.
Standard size Pontiacs reflected minor changes over the 1965 models. Available models were Catalina, Star Chief Executive, Bonneville and Grand Prix. Engines for the standard size Pontiacs started with a 256 hp 389 cid V8 and went up to a 356 hp 421 cubic inch with three 2-barrel carburetors available on Bonneville, Grand Prix and Catalina 2+2 models.
