1967 Pontiac
The big news for Pontiac in 1967 was the introduction of the Firebird. Utilizing the same 108.1 inch wheelbase and F body as Camaro, it was another GM answer to the wildly successful Ford Mustang. Featuring the split grille expected on Pontiacs, the Firebird engine options included a 230 cid inline 6 rated at 165 horsepower to the top of the line 400 cid V8 with output of 335 horsepower.
Tempests only showed minor changes in the 1967 models. Style modifications were limited mostly trim packages and variations on the way the grille was divided, according to series.
For the full sized Pontiacs, Catalina now sported an integrated bumper/grille, recessed windshield wipers and a more defined "wasp waist" body style. The Grand Prix convertible was added to the linup and featured disappearing headlights.
Engines for the standard size cars ranged from a 400 cu. in. V8 rated at 264 horsepower to the 378 hp 428 cu. in V8.
