Design changes for the 1936 Pontiac model year were minor. The headlights now were mounted on the sides of the hood (instead of on the fenders), the "speed-lines" disappeared from sides of the fenders, and the "silver streak" trim showed fewer "streaks."

The Straight Eight engine was bored out to a 232.3 cubic inch displacement and produced 87 brake horsepower. The sixes remained the same as the 1935 model year.

Suicide doors disappeared on the front doors, but the back doors on sedans remained rear hinged.
