The 1953 Pontiac was all new. The body had been lengthened by 2 inches, grille bars encircled the parking lights and were connected at the center by a bar sporting a Pontiac medallion.

The beginnings of tail fins appeared, and the dual sweep side trim extended from the front to the rear of the car.

The six cylinder engine now delivered 115 hp with manual transmission and 118 with an automatic. The eight cylinder engine had an output of 118 with manual transmission and 122 with automatic.

The car now featured a one piece windshield and ignition key starting.
